1, 2 or 3 Day Art Class with Tim Fargher
Three-day art classes at Glemham Hall in 2012 are designed to give amateur and professional artists a concentrated study period in which to sharpen technical skills and experiment with the guidance of well known Suffolk based painter Tim Fargher.
Drawing and painting, using the extensive grounds and the unique setting of the historic house as a base, gives ample opportunity for the development of inspired work over the three days.
The main theme of the course is aimed at developing skills in watercolour, oils and pastel. Glemham Hall offers an unrivalled inspirational environment combined with an experienced artist and teacher.
The day begins with a cup of coffee/tea, at 10:00 and a brief talk from Tim Fargher. The session is divided by lunch and finishes with coffee/tea at 17:00. A daily "crit" serves to enhance the progress of the work. Tim encourages artists to work on at least two subjects per day.
Artists are expected to bring their own equipment and materials, including paints and brushes, paper/canvases, pallete, easel and stool. A camera is useful.
3 Day Botanical Illustration Course with Sian Dawson
Tulips and Lilies
This introductory course is tutored by Sian Dawson specifically designed for beginners and those with some experience in watercolour painting and who have a love of, and interest in flowers and plants and wish to take their first steps in botanical illustration.
The course will focus on close study and observation of the subject for line drawing, composition and introducing tone to create a three dimensional effect. We will cover colour mixing and matching to our specimen and techniques to achieve various textures and best results by the botanical illustrator. Each student will complete a plant portrait or be confident to finish at home from the skills learned during the course.
Sian Dawson is an accomplished botanical illustrator having exhibited both nationally and internationally at BISCOT at Gardening Scotland, Edinburgh and The Chelsea Physic Garden Florilegium Society among others.
